Job Description
Performance Chemicals will be a new, leading industrial chemical company apart from its current parent company, DuPont, effective July, 2015. Performance Chemicals will have global leadership in titanium dioxide, fluorochemicals, fluoropolymers and selected specialty and industrial chemicals. It will be focused on serving customers who rely on these products, along with improved capability to respond to customer needs and market trends with a highly competitive asset base, product line and workforce. Performance Chemicals will have a presence in 36 countries and will serve customers in more than 90 countries around the world. The new company will supply customers from 38 manufacturing locations, which span every region of the world. The result will be a new company with the assets and presence to support the continued global operation of our businesses and to serve customers around the world.
First Chemical Corporation, a subsidiary of DuPont, is currently seeking Chemical Operators for our Pascagoula, MS site.
This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Controls equipment units or system that processes chemical substances into specified industrial products, according to knowledge of operation procedures, chemical reactions, laboratory test results, and correlation of process instrumentation.
Reads plant specifications to ascertain product, ingredients, and prescribed modifications of plant procedures.
Turns valves or moves controls to maintain system at specified temperature, pressure, flow and PH levels.
Starts automatic feed of solid or semisolid materials through equipment units, such as heating vessels and mixing tanks; Dumps pre-weighed ingredients into tanks or hopper.
Starts automatic feed or moves controls to regulate feed of liquids and gases through equipment in specified timing and sequence.
Observes chemical reactions; Monitors gauges, signals and recording instruments and makes specified operation adjustments as necessary to maintain control within critical limits.
Draws samples of product for laboratory analysis.
Draws samples of product at specified stages of production and performs PH tests, titration, specific gravities and calculations or other standard tests to ensure an efficient process and conformance with plant standards.
Maintains log of gauge readings, shift production, and observes instrument readings to facilitate regulation of process and production of standardized product. Patrols area to inspect equipment for leaks and hazards and to record gauge readings. May direct activities of other workers assisting in control or verification of process. May be designated according to equipment or system such as Board operator, Outside unit operator, Lead Operator, Loading/Rack Operator, etc.
Marginal Job Functions (not fundamental to the job):
May direct activities of other workers assisting in control or verification of process, assisting the supervisor in performance of supervisor duties by overseeing operations of unit, personnel, and equipment. May assist in the training of operators. May issue safe, hot, and vessel entry permits for maintenance and contractors.

Job Qualifications
In order to be qualified for this role, you MUST possess the following:
High School diploma/GED equivalent
Minimum of one year experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays if required
Willing and able to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE), including full protective impervious clothing and SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) if required
Able to lift up to 55 pounds
Able to climb up and down several flights of stairs multiple times per shift. Able to work inside and outside, in elevated places, under extreme temperatures and exposed to wet and/or humid conditions for extended periods while wearing appropriate PPE
Current and valid Driver’s license
