TMS' Corporate Accessories Department (CAD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Development Quality Engineer - Performance Products Development. The Corporate Accessories Department (CAD) is searching for a Development Quality Engineer that preferably has experience working on performance parts development. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide quality assurance and quality control technical leadership for performance accessory products such as suspension (springs/struts/brakes/skid plates/sway bars) and engine products (superchargers/air intakes/exhaust). The ideal candidate we are seeking is someone with a background in performance product development with testing knowledge and driving evaluation experience, other disciplines may be considered. Key ResponsibilitiesThe Development Quality Engineer is responsible for developing quality engineering activities, which include but are not limited to: Pre-launch activities, such as:
Participate in development team meetings from program kick off
Design reviews
Product fit-up validation (domestic / foreign)
Accessory Product Approval (APA - Package: product drawings / test results / fit-up reports / inspection standards, others)
Work with suppliers to complete the APA package
Work with TMC Corporate Accessory Development Department (CADD) to get technical approval (TA) and issue the Accessory Action Notice (AAN) to TMS internal customer that officially launches the production and shipping authorization to the suppliers
Administrative duties include: updating Global Conversion and Accessory System (GCAS), update Accessory Work Bench (AWB) for product carryover, in-line accessory documentation (ILA)
Product confirmation by validating against the drawing and review performance specification
Conduct accessory installation time studies
Accessory installation training with TLS port facilities at new vehicle launch
Develop accessory installation fixtures and special installation tools to support TLS port installation needs as required
Post-launch quality engineering activities, such as:
Product performance monitoring (Warranty / CR / field reports) that incorporates "Early Detection Early Resolution" (EDER) philosophy to prevent quality "flow outs"
Go & See activities at dealerships and suppliers
Conduct supplier audits
Supplier improvement activities to level-up a suppliers quality capability
Work closely with suppliers / TMC / PQSS / TMS field organization to quickly resolve quality issues
Review and approve engineering change requests (ECR) that are supplier process changes or manufacturing location related
Additional responsibilities include:
Provide guidance to other team members and teams by leveraging specialized quality assurance / quality control knowledge and process expertise in a diverse set of Toyota processes
Bring advanced analytics and critical thinking skills (e.g., analytical methodologies, innovation, performance evaluations, quality assessments, alternative design, economic/cost models, predictive/forecasting models, etc.) to problem solving in order to craft problem resolutions
Leverage process expertise to frame complex quality issues which help identify root causes that lead to problem resolution
Provide input to a wide range of decisions (e.g., tooling investment, cost management, sourcing, service delivery, process improvement, performance expectations, etc.)
This position will identify, approve, and implement process improvements, and define, frame, and integrate Toyota's quality requirements
The Development Quality Engineer position reports to the Quality Engineering Manager.Required: A successful candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
Blueprint Interpretation experience and standards
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) experience
5 or more years of Quality / Development Engineering working experience
Hands on experience working with a variety of shop tools and hand tools for accessory fit up activities and part modifications
Intermediate knowledge with MS Office / Excel / PowerPoint / Visio / Outlook
Preferred: A successful candidate may have:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Product Design or Quality Engineering
Quality Engineering experience with automotive background
Manufacturing plant experience working in quality control / quality assurance
CQE / CQA certificate a plus
Working knowledge of Automotive Product Design and Development
Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5
Working knowledge of automotive design process
Working knowledge of automotive manufacturing quality
Working knowledge and ability to apply ASTM, SAE, ASQC Standards
Well versed in engineering tools, methodology, and systems such as: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), FMEA or Design Review Based on Failure Mode (DRBFM), Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA), SMS-Moss, SMS-BR
