Position Description

We are looking for a Metallurgist to provide technical support for hardware production for our customers while supporting the Company to achieve established processing and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical contact for applicable customers.
Develop, modify, improve, and troubleshoot the processes associated with the production of seamless rolled rings and other open-die forgings.
Metallurgical failure analysis and disposition for applicable customers, including generation of non-dimensional concessions for customer review.
Ownership of new part introduction (NPI) for applicable customers, including final review of qualification packages prior to customer review.
Perform various Metallurgy Department projects including planning, organizing data collection, and presentation.
Initiate and control cost reduction projects to achieve targets established by Supervisor.
Release hardware for production utilizing processes that are designed to meet or exceed customer technical (metallurgical and quality) requirements as specified on purchase orders, blueprints, specifications or other related documents.
Review of new and revised technical (material, process, quality, etc) specifications, as necessary.
Skills
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiar with ERP systems
Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or Material Sciences
Preferred Qualifications
2 – 4 years of metallurgical experience is preferred
Masters Degree is helpful
American Society of Metals (ASM) registration
