We are seeking an ambitious Experience Design Director to set creative design direction for Honeywell’s Environmental and Combustion Controls (ECC) business. ECC is part of Automation and Control Solutions (ACS), and provides integrated product solutions in energy management, heating and heating processes, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration, air purification, zoning, humidification, air conditioning, water controls and processes, electrical devices and systems, lighting control, switches, sensors and controllers. Our technologies are found in more than 150 million homes, 10 million buildings, and thousands of manufacturing plants around the world. Customers include original equipment manufacturers, commercial, homeowners, contractors, retail, trade building managers, consulting engineers and distributors.
This position reports directly to the ACS Vice President, Global Experience Design. You will be responsible for leading experience design globally across all ECC products and system solutions. You will work closely with the ECC CMO and CTO to develop brand strategies, product roadmaps and brand design languages. You will be the voice of Experience Design in strategic and annual operating planning meetings, as well as serve as the functional decision maker for Experience Design at project reviews and tollgates.
As part of the ACS GExD leadership team, you will contribute to growing our experience design competencies, and set creative direction with strategic design partners. You will work with other functional design leaders in an interdisciplinary studio to create the framework and best practices of a world-class design studio. Together, we will create brand design strategies, advanced design concepts and deliver outstanding products to market. The variety of our businesses and applications will challenge your creative talents and our global footprint will expose you to diverse cultures and developing markets.
What You Will Be Responsible for:
Leading experience design globally across ECC.
Working closely with ACS VP Global Experience Design to implement a design strategy for ECC that aligns with corporate objectives.
Collaborating with ECC CMO and CTO to incorporate eEperience Design in strategic and annual operating plans
Providing a clear, consistent perspective on progressive Experience Design to project teams and stakeholders.
Participating as a decision maker for design at project reviews and tollgates.
Creating and executing human-centered designs for HLS products and services that differentiate our brands in the marketplace around the world.
Contributing to ACS best practices for Experience Design throughout the product development process.
Recruiting, developing and managing Experience Design resources for ECC.
Collaborating with other GExD studios and business units to promote an Esprit de Corps for a growing world-class organization.
Collaborate with the Honeywell Global R&D Labs to define roadmaps for next generation user experiences and design strategies. Model Honeywell core values and behaviors.
As Director, you will need to have the following talents, skills and experiences:
Strong portfolio of applying user-centered design practices in product development.
Demonstrated leadership experience working with business and technology leaders to set strategic and annual operating plans.
Demonstrated experience scoping, planning and executing projects in accordance with an iterative development process.
Demonstrated leadership experience leading, developing and managing experience designers.
Experience in understanding and synthesizing user needs using a variety of practices.
Experience in design strategy, trends and how they apply to brand and product planning.
Experience in evaluating products using: design trends, heuristic reviews, competitive benchmarking, formative and summative usability studies.
Demonstrable talent in developing industry-leading industrial designs.
Experience creating low-fidelity to high-fidelity appearance models and prototypes.
Experience directing and managing external design firms and model shops.
International experience working with regional businesses and design teams.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in design or related degree.
10 or more years of experience in industrial design of products.
5 or more years of leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or Graduate degree industrial design, product development or related discipline.
Outstanding design portfolio of concepts and commercialized products.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Excellent collaboration and teamwork attitude.
Excellent drawing and sketching skills
Fluent with computer modeling tools
Fluent with interaction design and prototyping tools
Experience with Color, Materials and Finish design trends, planning and specification
