We are currently seeking a Factory Consumables Handler for our Portland facility.
Position Description:
Lead and/or work with other Factory Consumable Handlers to ensure that shop personnel, tool rooms & other customers are supplied with tools, equipment & supplies.
Job Description:
Set up & maintain inventory recording & control systems, facilitate/coordinate information & the movement of tools, equipment & shop supplies between organizations.
Analyze work in area, determine priorities & sequence work based on customer requirements.
Develop, update & implement processes & procedures for the area. Order & receive tools, equipment & supplies to support the shop.
Determine shop needs, make adjustments as necessary & log in receivers using various computer programs.
Store items in an appropriate manner in designated areas.
Verify received goods, order & paperwork match then enter into system. Investigate discrepancies & follow appropriate procedures for correction, repair, replacement &/or rejection.
Process Packing Slip Invoice. Assign number & label new tools using appropriate method. Issue/route tools, supplies & safety equipment (e.g. safety glasses, dust masks, respirators) to shop personnel or tool rooms. Send used equipment out for refurbishment.
Visually check tools for defects.
Route broken/worn tools to proper repair areas.
Inventory tools, shop supplies & materials, audit periodically for accuracy. Maintain filing systems.
Service satellite supply/tool areas (e.g. self serve point-of-use).
Ensure proper tools are kitted for the work order & machine per the Numerical Control (NC) Machine Document.
Order special cutters required by NC Documents.
Operate mechanical lifts & other shop equipment to move material & tools.
Locate tools & equipment using delinquent tool reports; hold out notices, computer programs & investigative skills.
Route tools to small tool repair or calibration/certification for testing &/or certification.
Check & post cal/cert report, maintain track & document certification of tools. Prepare & maintain status information, manual logbooks, manifest sheets, tie-ins & other information.
Use and update computer systems to perform various job functions.
Coordinate & work with other organizations to supply customer needs, to expedite priority orders &/or substitute orders.
Follow up on requests from shop personnel.
Troubleshoot customer problems. Input/transfer employee information into the tool room inventory management system.
Order & issue shop stamps for employees.
Check the contents of & clear toolboxes for employees per Boeing Security procedures.
Sort, size, bag/rack, store & send cutting tools to the tool grind shop or outside vendor for grinding & sharpening.
Write Tool Grind Orders & maintain inventory of cutters in computer systems.
Apply protective coating, bag & box cutters for routing, Train & assist other employees with functions, methods & procedures.
Establish and maintain Point Of Use tool cribs.
Contact co-workers or supervisor when assistance is needed &/or when there are questions on process or job related issues.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Boeing employees outside the Puget Sound, Wichita and Portland must apply via Careers at Boeing posting system to be considered.
This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.
