Senior Manager

Responsible for all U.S. state and local income tax compliance
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of income tax returns by reviewing returns and workpapers and by ensuring that audit results/settlements, tax planning positions, and legal entity accounting are properly incorporated and reflected on the returns
Develops and executes plans to manage associate resources, identify technical issues, and by incorporating data into tax returns in an efficient manner
Serves as a liaison between the compliance function and the State Defense Team by identifying potential tax controversies, fostering the relationship between Walmart and state tax auditors, and responding to document requests and inquiries
Identifies planning opportunities and supports the Tax Planning Team with their initiatives
Manages outside vendor relationships by providing expectations for work product, guiding the direction for work, and assisting with decisions regarding the work
Manages the preparation of the state rate for the company's income tax provision including the related return-to-provision and state income tax account analysis
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by building a team-based work environment
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Accounting
5 years of income tax experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Licensed CPA
Advanced Business/Accounting/Tax or JD Degree • 6 to 12 years of corporate income tax experience working at a large public accounting firm or for a large company including significant state experience.
