Position Description
Come be a part of the Quality Assurance team for Alcoa Fastening Systems & Rings’ newly acquired plant in Fontana, CA, formerly Firth-Rixson, manufacturer of seamless rolled jet engine rings. Join at this exciting and critical time as we integrate into the Alcoa culture and processes.
We are looking for an Inspection Supervisor to perform inspection on machined seamless rolled rings or forgings to ensure conformance with work orders, blueprints and/or customer requirements. The Inspection Supervisor will support Quality Improvement activities and non-conformance systems, and will supervise other Inspectors in these duties. This key role is important for continuing the Alcoa Fastening Systems & Rings (AFSR) promise of innovation, exacting standards, durability, and flawless performance

Key Responsibilities
Carry out and supervise Inspection activities.
Use geometrical dimensioning & tolerance in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
Visually and mechanically measure and inspect parts utilizing final inspection tools.
Perform First Article Inspections.
Interpret blueprints and measure parts in accordance with blueprints.
Utilize Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment.
Support goal to allow Zero dimensional escapes from inspection department.
Must have understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.
Assume ownership of department work instructions.
Be focal point during audits for inspection and calibration.
Responsibility to streamline the paperwork flow through inspection.
Maintain a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.
Must be able to conduct training and hold meetings.
Be responsible for cross training inspectors.
Update internal non-conformance reporting systems & documentation as per procedures and work instructions.
Support MRB regarding dimensional issues and provide disposition. Raises formal customer submittals for dimensional non-conformances as directed by Quality.
Train inspectors on MRB/submittals.
Directly support Quality Improvement activities as required.
Interface between internal and external customers.
Skills
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math, algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Must have correctable vision to meet the requirements of company work instructions and procedures.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Five (5) years of dimensioning and tolerance Inspection experience
Two (2) years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Virtual DMIS experience is preferred
Experience with the use of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
Inspection experience in the Aerospace industry is preferred
