Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Global Business Analysis and Projects Team is part of the Strategic Client Service team within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) and specifically aligned with the Global Shareholder Services team. It is responsible for managing and executing strategic business-related projects that involve the business processes, technology and vendor activities that make up the life cycle of all GSAM Mutual Funds (and other pooled vehicles). Specifically, this team collaborates with one of the 3 business groups (Global Shareholder Services, Global Fund Services and Global Fund Data Reporting) and align themselves with specific initiatives in the strategic business plan.
The responsibilities can include a wide range of activities along the entire project lifecycle and can involve a variety of different types of projects. Typical project responsibilities may include strategic roadmaps, scope definitions, requirements gathering, process design, implementations, and, importantly, communicating status and escalating issues as appropriate. The Business Analyst is expected to interact and maintain relationships with business area sponsors, key stakeholders, as well as other key constituencies such as external system vendors and internal technology teams, taking the lead and acting as the point person for all these groups while a project progresses through its different stages, up to and through completion.
Examples where the Projects team has driven business solutions include implementing and enhancing a customer portal for web-based trading in GSAM’s money market and mutual funds, implementing a vendor application to outsource data and document aggregation for the alternative investment business, leading the effort to decommission multiple tactical, end of life, user-develop applications with strategic solutions, and providing business, technical, and industry expertise as part of the money market regulatory reform initiative.
Financial industry experience is preferred, ideally with a focus on mutual funds, money market funds, or alternative investment products.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree with excellent academic record
• 5+ years professional experience leading and participating in large projects
• Experience with business process improvement and business process design
• Familiarity with user acceptance testing methodologies
• Familiarity with different technologies (data flows, relational databases, program logic, file layouts, communication protocols, etc.)
