Job Description & Qualifications
Position Duties
Driving simulators and immersive environments (e.g. head-mounted displays, CAVE technology, Powerwalls, etc.) are key enablers for rapid evaluation of user experiences in a laboratory setting. Effective use of these technologies – especially driving simulators -- requires intimate knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the underlying technology and of the proper experimental techniques required to obtain valid results. Integrating new user experiences into an immersive environment is also a specialized skill. This position will lead to the development and application of rapid evaluation of new user experience technologies and business models in the context of driving.
Lead the procurement, installation and operation of an immersive experiences laboratory in RIC Palo Alto.
Interface with company experts in Driving Simulation and Immersive Environments to ensure consistency of methods.
Interface with User Experience and Human Factors engineers in RIC Palo Alto and other Ford locations to ensure that the Immersive Environments support planned research goals
Lead the integration of new user interface technologies into the Driving Simulator and Immersive Environments, including technologies for automated driving, advanced connectivity, wearable technology and urban mobility.
Lead collaboration in Immersive Environments with west coast universities, startups, and other technology forums
Minimum Requirements
MS or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related fields
10+ years of experience and demonstrated excellence in driving simulator technology, head-mounted displays and advanced real-time graphics
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to deliver technologies on time and on budget
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
